Nicholas “The Feelin’” Mrozinski releases his fourth studio album, Together We’re Stronger, today. The album is a sprawling mix of country, folk, gospel, blues, new age, and even a little electronica. Together the album is soulful and appealing to an older audience, though at times it feels a bit preachy and cheesy.

Last year Magic Castles released their debut The Lore of Mysticore. It was a charming lo-fi psychedelic album with a few catchy songs, but lacked broad appeal. This year the group is back with a stellar new album Dreams of Dreams of Dreams, which is more accessible, more cohesive, and quite simply one of the best albums I have listened to this year.

What a week of good music! With the cold January weather and a new week of work ahead, who goes out in the evening to see live music at the beginning of the week??? The people of the Twin Cities do. A testament to the thriving music scene found here, I attempted to check out live music Sunday through Wednesday night, and I wasn’t alone.
